The lock of the S&W is welded (alloy soldered) together, hence no visible rivets. The bow hinge pin is riveted and would be less likely to be pried part.

Peerless are just a brand name now. Nice to look at, crap to trust. Best model ever was Model 2, still going years after they stopped being made. The Chinese make many  better cuffs.
