Taiwan Prison Shackles

The Taiwan Prison shackles are bolted to the long term, death inmates. I was able to get a few pairs from a prison guard 2 years ago. I contacted him recently and he says he can get some more and this time with the wrist shackles. He still haven't tell me the price yet, but with reference to what I paid 2 years ago, it will be around US$150 and comes with bolt nails. The ankle shackles weights about 3 Kgs.

And here I thought the Chinese were cruel with the stuff they make. At least they don't weight as much the Chinese ones but still somewhat barbaric...

Good thing these shackles aren't being used on terrorists! Now, that would be inhumane! Somebody might start a thinly-veiled protest or something. Imagine.

Would you also be able to procure unusual thumbcuffs (other than those commonly available on the internet)? About a year or so ago, I posted about an unusual long chained pair of Chinese thumbcuffs that I saw in a news clipping. To this day, I have not seen any like them for sale, other than lightweight novelty items. If you were able to obtain these, I’m sure that several of us collectors would be interested in purchasing at least one pair, and you would be well compensated for your efforts.

Managed to find a small picture of the thumbcuffs photographed with what are described as “self tightening” (Bri-Circle?) handcuffs and 3 cattle prods.

The Bri-Circle handcuffs (what I believe these are) don’t use a ratchet, as do most modern handcuffs, but rather a ratchet wheel that interlocks with the teeth on the jaws. While locked, the wheel only rotates in one direction, and contact of the wrists with the inner circumference of the jaws will cause them to tighten if the captive isn’t very still. The Bri-Circle cuffs do, however, double lock by turning the key opposite to unlocking them (this will prevent further tightening).
