I live in New Jersey and thought Id give a heads up about an up coming show
Houdini unlocking the mystery will air on The History channel on Monday 01-02-06 at 8:00pm Eastern Time

Saw most of program last evening. One thing I found of interest was the amount of time some of Houdini's escapes took... some over an hour. Now how much of that was showmanship and how much was actually needed. Either way, can't conceive of today's audience sticking around looking at a curtain or staring at a tv screen for that long.

Thanks again for the heads up on this show; I managed to catch it and tape it last night. It was kinda neat pointing out all the familiar faces to my wife, Kellie. They got a few long shots of Joe Fox, Mark & Sheila Cannon, and John Bushey.....I also caught a few glimpses of Mark Lyons and our "host" Big Joe as well. It was sad to see that David Copperfield wasn't able to be there in person though.....considering he walked away with most of the booty!!! LOL!

I have a question, While watching the show David Copperfield showed a pair of the Mirror cuffs
I always thought their was only [2] pairs made, both on display at the Niagara Falls Houdini Museum
Did David Copperfield buy one of them?

Dennis, the museum you are refering to, burned down some years back. I would have to say that this pair, that David has, must be one of the two originals.....I have never known David to put reproductions on display with real magic relics....it's not his style. However, the set that I have on display in my collection is a reproduction.....I am not nearly as classy as Dave! Or as rich!!! LOL! Any conflicting thoughts??? Anyone??? Santini??? Stan??? Yossie??? Ian??? Bueller??? Bueller??? Bueller??? LOL!

While I've met David Copperfield and shook his hand and he made me dissapear in Cincinnati, I don't know him well enough to call him David. I do know that he does own one of the original Mirror Challenge cuffs. My understanding is that the 2 cuffs are not identical.

P.S. Hey Stan, when I met David Copperfield (for the first time) and shook his hand, and talked about magic with him while he autographed a few things for me.....I called him "Mr. Copperfield"......he answered back, "Call me David". I was just respecting his wishes.

Yes,

There were two sets of Mirror cuffs on display at the former Houdini Magical Hall of Fame in Niagara Falls, Canada.

I saw them there in person many times as a young lad and teenager.

One was the working set and the other was a silver trophy set that to my knowledge did not function and merely had the shape and look of the original working pair.

David Copperfield has the original Mirror Cuffs AND the silver (non working) presentation cuffs,and are housed in his private museum in Las Vegas
