I DON'T THINK THAT THEY ARE EVEN WORTH THE $60.... MAYBE $35. AS THEY LOOK LIKE CHEAP INDIAN MADE CUFFS... TOO MUCH SPACE IN THE BACKSTRAP & THE CENTER LINK LOOKS LIKE THE POOR QUALITY OF THE INDIAN ITEMS.....WHEN ONE USES --- ANONYOMOUS --- AS HIS NAME, WE KNOW THAT -- THAT IN ITSELF TELLS THE STORY !!! NOT GOOD !!! JOE

Joe, your point is well taken, however, look at some of the other areas of this cuff.....very well fitted where the tip of the bow locks into the case. On Indian cuffs, there is (usually) a big or even HUGE gap here and some evidence of a slightly twisted bow. The key is much different and quite well made compared to an Indian made cuff as well. I would be interested in seeing some better quality photos of these cuffs. Also, this guy signed his name at the bottom of his post.

Stan, how do you know what they just sold for....were you bidding on them too???

I saw them on ebay. I did not bid, but you don't have to bid to see what they sold for. Anyone can see the selling price. It is not uncommon for someone to post to the Forum and ask values and either list the item on ebay at that value, or to ask values in order to know what to bid. I also get emails asking me for prices.

MIKE: point taken on his name, but anyone can use any name, so maybe he is TED & maybe he isn't.... but that is not the point as the point is anyone can email me because i leave my SIGNATURE name -- JNPTAN@AOL.COM --- ... so that you know i am real & am NOT hiding.... as to the cuffs themselves, i have had some NICE OLD OLD INDIAN items over the past 27 years & my father in law before me (the same) that were superbly made UNLIKE the items that have been made during the past 50 years or so.....as to the KEY, you need to learn ( no disrespect intended ) that a KEY basically should have no weight in telling IF a cuff is old etc etc... look at the crap that is made today with MATCHING NUMBERS on the cuffs & the key.... i have many many times put an OLD OLD key with a darby type cuff that was a mismatch, but if the key works the cuff that is all that really counts.... joe

Joe, once again, point taken. The key comment was more of a comparison between the quality/workmanship of the cuffs and the key (same quality....probably the same maker). I am fully aware that different keys get put with different locks.....heck, you should see my shop, it is full of oddly matched stuff. LOL! As far as OLD Eastern Indian stuff, I was not aware that the quality was that good on the old stuff. I have not seen any real old Indian darbies like the ones you described. You were truly blessed to have a father-in-law like Prynce E. Wheeler....I would have loved to have seen his collection up close and in person!!! All my father-in-law had was a box full of collectible knives.....bummer.
