There is an ebay listing for a rather interesting handcuff posted at the moment. Can anyone identify it? I think it is going to sell for a whole lot of money.

I recall this model, probably from Stan's CD. As far as I remember they were referred to as French. They are some kind of a cloning between Wisner & Hoyt and Kakola. On the French cuff the rachets were placed beside the moving bow like on Wisner & Hoyt. Also the chain, which looks kind of oversized for the cuffs, is very similar to the French cuffs on Stan's CD.

I believe Stan does have a picture of of this cuff on his DVD....a picture of mine.
Mine was originally sold to a guy in Michigan (not a cuff collector) on ebay a few years ago and I coincidentally met him when I went back there a couple of years ago. I finally got it from him about a year and a half ago. He bought it from a guy in France. I date it to the turn of the last century to the 20's.
The one for sale is a bit more robust than mine and I am crazy about what I believe is the original key. My key is nice, but definitely not original. The patina on mine is much nicer. I do not know much more about it.

I had to look at the CD to remember, but I have 5 pictures of what ended up being Mark's cuff. They are listed under Miscellaneous. I like the key with Mark's better than the one on eBay.

New tactics! I am currently the highest bidder on the above and they are one of the cuffs that I have been after for many years.
I do need them and must have them so have made my maximum bid $15,000-
Guess it won't be worth any of you other collectors bidding on them!!!

CHRIS: SHAME !! SHAME !! on you.... i hope you are just kidding, but even if you are it is alittle to late to do much about it.... as NOW how can any of US -- your friends -- bid on the cuff without feeling somewhat bad even if the highest bid among us friends would be SUPER HIGH but LESS then $14,999..... if you are trying to STEAL them by stating what you bid & hope no-one else bids again - SHAME SHAME on YOU !!! to me, it would have been better had you contacted the seller & offered your $15,000 & bought them off ebay... i am sure that the seller would have sold the cuff to you .... i would have e'd you personally & voiced my thoughts to you ONLY but as you know we seem to have trouble emailing each other....hopefully still your friend.... jor

So, who was the mystery guy that won these beautiful old relics? Does anyone know who "bigpapaps" is? I really didn't expect this topic to die so quickly, I figured everyone would still be yapping about them long after the auction ended.
