Yep, Yuil makes "REAL" Handcuffs.. This idea of adding a rubber/silicone bead to a handcuff is NOT NEW !! Hiatts did this on "special" handcuff orders in the Mid 1990's. And Tri Lock offers removable/disposible liners on their products. The idea is to prevent wrist/hand nerve damage/Injury from the application and or wearing of the handcuffs. I personally know that the earlier attempt by Hiatts (They Used a Black Silicone) at this process wasn't very succesfull because the Silicone bead didn't bond well to the handcuffs and fell off for the most part.

I have tried a pair of these on and they are very comfortable, they are also anti shim, and as it says a standard key will not work.

I wonder just how well the silicone stands up to wear and tear. Getting the stuff to bond and have staying power has been a problem for some time.

I am still carying a standard key for S&W 90 since 1976 when I came a police officer.

The key is somewhat after being carried and used these 30 or so years.

I have a pair of Yuil handcuffs which I am able to open with this S&W key, apparently first I can get one paul, then move the depth the key is inserted and grab the other one, the cuffs open right up.

Cannot do it with a new S&W key.

Remember finesse not force works best when manipulating locks.

I have a pair of Yuil that have the silicone and plans to get another different model with the same silicone lining. Has anyone determined what the longevity of the silicone has? I know police departments aren't going to replace handcuffs all the time just because some rubber comes off, so I would have to assume it should be quite long-living? Any feedback on this from long-time Yuil owners?

In German handcuffs forum was information that after intensive use these silicone inserts fall off and formed two very sharp edges.

Oh I see. I have mixed opinions about this. But the non-silicone models have keyways big enough to drive a Cadillac in there. So pretty much either you buy silicone models or put up with a bit less security.

Actually you are incorrect. I can kind of see what you are saying but I think you could say it better. It is silicone, not rubber. It does not pull your hairs out if that is what you mean. They are very comfortable, at least as comfortable as one can be without full range of movement of their arms lol. But they are a nice cuff. I just hope the silicone never wears off or if it does that a simple filing over them with a diamond file would smooth any hard sharp edges. The thing i worry about is if the contact area where the silicone goes has a U shape so there would be 2 lips with a gap between, actually like the ratchet teeth on the bow, you know how there's two sides and a gap in the middle between them? If that is how the contact area is then it would be more uncomfortable even after filing the edges because instead of one big flat area contacting your skin you have 2 prongs almost, which means less surface area contact which would dig in.

If anyone has pictures of a pair of yuil after the silicone has come off that would be really great to see.. Can anyone oblige?
