Tiny Field and Sons

Hi,

I'm a new boy to handcuffs.org and would welcome some advice. I recently aquired a pair of Field and Sons darby cuffs which are in fantastic condition. As you can see (if the image loads) they are rather small infact they are the smallest of the small darby style cuffs that i've seen. The inner dimentions of the cuffs at their widest point are 51mm high by 39mm wide. I've seen bigger "ladies cuffs" but these just to say fit my 8 year old niece and even accounting for smaller adults in Victorian times I'm more inclinded to think they were for children. I think Field and Sons were in business from 1850 to 1880 are these a rare item and if so any ideas as to value would be welcome. They came without a key but I'm lucky to have two that fit.

I've seen Indian adult copys sell for more so I thought I might have got something special for my collection. I tell you what. Don't try to make money here.

Just collect for the fun of it. Yes, it will cost you something. But never let the joy of collecting be outweighed by the short term goal of trying to make a profit. Figure out what YOU want to collect, and then go after it hammer and tongs. Learn everything YOU can about what it is YOU are collecting. Make it YOUR collection, whatever that might be.

I think the price of 80 GBP is very reasonable. If I had been alert when they were up for auction, I would likely have bid more than that.

So you have a very nice cuff for a good price.

The cuffs are definitely very rare.

They look like the ones (mady by Hiatt) in Andy´s post, don't they?
