Hiatts HSS9 Question

Hello I would like to know if the blue part of Hiatts HSS9 is steel or zinc?

I have seen some and they were Zinc where the lock housing is. I suspect they Nickel plate them these days. One test to be sure is use a magnet to see if it sticks.

Hello thanks for yours response . I do believe that zinc is a metal breakable thus Hiatts HSS9 are it as solid as of Hiatts 2050 or 2054? Does Zinc resist it has violent shocks?

I'm not sure what the reference to blue is all about. The first few HS99 cuffs with 3 teeth on the ratchet pawl had the lock case plated. Later models, and I think the current model, the lock case is unplated zinc looking material. The lock case is also unplated on the matching leg irons.
