escape artist photo - who is it???

Can anyone out there tell me who this is?? Thanks in advance. I have several photos of early 20th century escape artists, and am seeking help identifying them. Here is the first. Thanks, John Bushey

John, that is an interesting picture. I look love to see a shot of that from the reverse angle.
How many escape artists were there in the early 20th century?
I realize that this is a near impossible to answer question, so perhaps I should ask how many EA'S appeared on the Vaudeville circuit? Does anyone have a running list? Beside Houdini and Hardeen who would be among the next most famous?
I know that you have more photos such as this and I hope you will post more of them.

P.S. But that pic, along with all the 8 by 10 ones were once part of Joe Dunninger's personal collection.

In fact, I believe one is inscribed to him by the performer.

I got all of them, as well as some original Houdini lock picks and one of Houdini's original "Siberian Cell" padlocks from a person who is no longer among the living but did once get his hands on a great glut of Dunninger's belongings.

Many of which, but not all, were sold off by Joe Tanner many moons ago.

(I still have the lock picks and the Siberian Cell Russian padlock. The pics appear to be very similiar to the one and two lever lock picks Houdini illustrates in Handcuff Secrets and as for the padlock I believe it is one of the very locks Houdini is seen wearing on one ankle chain in his famous "crouched over wearing the loin cloth pic"). One day I will probably liquidate these items as well.

Steve, I would be interested in the Houdini Siberian padlock and picks if you should decide to sell them. If you don't mind, bring them with you this weekend, I would love to see them!

Hi Mike,

I will certainly bring them along with a pile of other stuff.

As for selling them, they are rather rare so if anyone was interested in buying them I am afraid I would want a goodly amount for them.

Still, they will be with me this weekend as well as a number of rare Medieval restraints and assorted locking mechanisms/devices.

Should be a good time!

Along with the 4 two lever lock Houdini owned lockpicks, I also have some larger multi lever lock picks he owned and from the same source.

There are 5 of these and I would surmise he either got them in or had them made in Germany.

They seem to be for larger multi levered door locks like jail cell door locks, etc.

I will bring these too.
