Just joined and thought I'd introduce myself. Philip Hilton, please call me Phil. I'm an illusionist, love escapes though and do feature them, that runs in the family as my father was a jailbreaker, though he was on the other side of the legal fence, but that was back in the 40's-60's. Thanks for the warm welcome. As far as collecting is concerned I'm just starting out. On my Birthday last month I got a Ball & Chain which had been on EBay. It appears to be Victorian and is stamped Dartmoor on the shackle. I also have a pair of Hiatt 1960's. The rest are modern, leg irons, locks etc.

Phil, sounds great! I just got my first pair of Hiatt 1960's last week, complements of Steve Santini (one of our more knowledgable collectors on this site). I love British cuffs, but they are a little harder to find on this side of the pond! You probably have the same problem finding American made cuffs over there, aye? Happy collecting!

your right Micheal I have Hiatts coming out of my ears, but Smith and Wesson and Peerless and proving slightly harder to aquire, and when I do import them the customs man wants his slice....grrrrrrr....anyone here got any good ideas for avoiding the import duty?

Hi Phil, I'm new here too. I'ld love to see a picture of the Dartmmor stamp on that ball&chain. I have been looking for information on a pair of darby's stamped H.M.Dartmoore P. I had no idea what it was until yesterday.
