Ok lets talk about something else:
Dose anyone know the formal reason why Colt stopped making handcuffs? All the ones I have seen are high quality compaired to others in there day. An with colt selling firearms to the military as well as police it would only seem pratical for them to have continued to make these fine cuffs.

But I have watched colt handcuffs for about two years now (only on Ebay of course) but I find that when no one on this site is talking about 'hey check out this auction on ebay item # bla, bla, bla. That the colt handcuffs don't bring that much, but as soon as some one starts a post about them on this site the price goes sky high.
Now as for me, I've been collecting firearms with my father since I was fist able to walk. Now I have never had any interest in handcuffs made by Smith and Wesson or by Colt, although I knew they existed.
But when I became a Cop three years ago I started looking at handcuffs on ebay because they were so much cheaper than the local Cop supply shop. When I started looking I found two main brands S&W, and Peerless. I liked the look of the Model 3 Peerless better than the model 100 S&W I was seeing so I bought a pair of used Peerless. As I keep looking I came across a pair of Peerless model 1912 which was listed as (Peerless & Smith & Wesson) of Course not knowing anything at the time about the collecting side of handcuffs I said "How can this be?" And being a person who has always been attracted to knowledge had to find out more about these cuffs. Of course I bought these Cuffs, and now three years later have over 50 pairs of cuffs.
I own two pairs of Colt handcuffs. I bought them not because I was also a gun nut (I have not really ever been all that intrigued about Colt anyway, I find there firearms to be more about the name than quality) but I bought those Cuffs because they were Cuffs Cuffs that most people on this site say are not rare and actually are common, But in the last Year on Ebay I've only seen about 6 pairs come up for auction. Three of these in the last month, I don't know why so many this month?
My point is that, most handcuff collectors don't want to admit that they paid for a pair of Colt cuffs because guys on this forum talk bad about them. But weather you buy your Colt cuffs from someone on Ebay were gun nuts are bidding against you or from someone on this site, were only handcuff collectors are, you will pay the same amount??? Strange? Or is it??
For me, I like my Colt handcuffs, I think they were high quality. Yes I think I paid too much. But I also think I paid too much for my Peerless model 400, and my S&W 925.
Peerless never sold firearms so there pretty well protected from this conversation. But I dont ever hear anyone saying that the reason S&W 925 or 926 are so high is because the gun nuts are bidding them up because the say S&W on them. But if my math is correct I paid more for my Peerless 400s than I did for my first pair of Colts? Why is Peerless 400, Or the 4.5 oz, or 7oz handcuffs so high? I can tell you with out a doubt that the Gun Nuts have nothing to do with the price of Peerless cuffs, or the price of rice in China. Sorry had to add that last bit in for my late father.
Anyway, just some food for thought, just a little bit to make the hamster wheel inside the old head start turning. Why are Peerless light weight Prices so high, or Bean, or Dowler Darby? Those guys never made firearms? But I still would have to pay over $100 for a good example of any of them?
Anyway, enough about all that, how about them Yankees!
