Question about colt cuffs

Hi, I have a pair of colt cuffs with the center key hole,
( first model? )they have no serial # and the rampant colt
seems to be stamped in an odd place/angle. Does anyone
have any ideas? Prototype? military???
I would post a picture but my computer is not capable.

For some reason i can't get the picture to reload so I'll bring an old posting forward, scroll down thru the postings and look for another about colt Military handcuffs, that will have a picture for you!

James, Thanks for responding. Yes that is the way the horse
is stamped but a little closer to the key hole and they
have no serial #.

Hey a pair I bought just arrived in the mail today. They look just like the ones pictured, but are like new in box. The SN# stamped in the same location as the picture I showed you was stamped so light that when the nickel plated the cuffs it all but made it imposable to see. Mine ended up being SN# 435, now not sure if they started with the Serial number in order, or if the number 435 means that this was a pair of the first 500 built? Anyway, it was real hard to see, you should double check your cuffs in this spot to see if there is a SN# there. Look hard and close.

Hi James, Ilooked them over with a magnafying glass and
there is no serial #. whats up with that????

I would not know, you'd have to get one of the other guys on this site to answer that one. But most of them won't answer unless your question stirs them up somehow, look how long this has been on there and no one besides me has answerd. Unless you say something like the other guys are too dumb to answer, they could care less about your question or your handcuffs.

They'd rather talk about how long they have been locked in a pair of cuffs than answer a question from a "newbie" cuff collector. "newbie" thats what they call anyone who has to ask questions about handcuffs. And most of the guys on here don't like Colt brand cuffs anyway. I hope you get your answer.

My point has been proven, nobody wants to answer your question, they just want to anonymously question my sanity, but I assure you that someone on this site has the answer. After all these other guys have been collecting cuffs before I was born. And if they don't have to answer they have a book they could open and read to give you the answer. But guys like me and you don't get answers to questions.

Not necessarily a sound assumption. Despite the admitted eminence of some of our members, there is a lot that is unknown. Handcuffs appear to be subject to a jillion variations, most of them undocumented.
