I think these cuffs are fake, but?

I have a pair of what I prseumed were fake cuffs and leg irons. They are in a crude darby style and have no locking spring, just a bolt which is turned by the key, which is also crude. Now both the cuffs and leg irons have numbers on, which I've seen many times on fakes & repro's. What I've never seen is a size mark. The cuffs have a number as well as the size 2 1/2 (two and a half) written in number but I can't make the half mark on this keyboard. To me this seems odd. Also there are marks on the cuff chain where its been struck a number of times by what looks like an axe. Any ideas would be welcome. I'm still thinking of these as fake....But? I'll try and get some pictures of them.

Pix would help. They don't sound Kosher to me.
