South African Handcuffs

Stupid Question coming from a South African EA, but, Does anyone know what the make of all the South African Police Handcuffs were before they started using the Republic Arms?
I have quite a few sets which I have collected and not one of them has a Manufacturer Stamp or Engraving on them Except for the SAP (South African Police) Engraving.

I don't have your factual answer. You will have to wait for one of the serious collectors to answer that definitivly.

However, based on the history of South Africa, I would put out the following educated guess.

South Africa was an area that practiced "tribal communal" living for hundreds or years. This sort of life style usually has a legal system comprised of "shunning" "exiling" and maybe in extreme cases, "death".

As such, Handcuffs were probably noit eve considered until brought by the western world.

So,, my educated guess is that handcuffs used in South Africa were almost certianly of Brittish origin. At least historically.

What they use today, I have no clue.

You are correct there. I believe that they were/are used in UK. But an Oldish Design. I have pictures of them at home. I will try post a picture of them next week. Now The SAP's use Republic Arms, as far as I can understand (Dont have a set of S & W) They are same or similar in Design to the S & W 100's I think. Can Some one correct me if I am wrong? Thanks for your post though.
