Smith / Wesson made by Peerless ?

Hi all !

Would someone who knows please look at item # 7760830739 on Ebay and tell me if these are real. I didn't know that Peerless made cuffs for Smith and Wesson.

If so are these a good find or what ???

Actually, S&W made cuffs for Peerless when Peerless first introduced their early models.

This cuff is the second S&W/Peerless model made.

The 1st model, the more rare and desirable version, has a smaller more rounded lock case and has no ditched jaws or bows.

Hello,

one addition to Steve's comments.

AFAIK all 1st models have two identical cuffs (no left and right cuff), so that the keyholes face in different directions, if the movable bows face in the same direction. All other peerless handcuffs have a left and a right cuff.

What then, is the value of the early Smith & Wesson Model 100 cuffs with the double lock slot on the keyhole side only? I see a pair of them on e-bay. I got two sets of the old model 90's and a newer set of model 100's but it says "Houlton ME" on it and not "Springfield Mass" and they have double lock holes on both sides of the cuff.

I'm a S&W handcuff collector, and I keep my 1st model #100 (Springfield, Mass; Pats. Pending; Slot on ONE side only) separate from my other #100s.

To ME, it's a significant cuff, but I fully understand that to other collectors - it's "just" a S&W #100., and not an especially big deal.

My guess is that this early 1st model would go for twice the current retail value of today's S&W #100 ($40 - $75), and that's only if someone REALLY wants one.

I'm sure that flea markets are flooded with these 1st model #100s, and that the sellers don't realize that they are worth a little more to a S&W collector.

Thanks for the info! I think the current pair on e-bay is asking $35 starting price. I'll most likely try to get these if they don't skyrocket too much. I love S&W cuffs & I don't have an early pair of M-100's because I really haven't seen any lately. It seems to be a supply & demand factor with some of these cuff models.
