Top 10 reasons that should prove that these are not authentic:
1. There is one or more being sold on eBay 7/24/365
2. The signs which are very neatly stamped would have cost a fortune to produce in
the 1820's on up if they could be manufactured that nice at all.
3. The signs are glued on with modern adhesive.
4. None of the hundreds of these cuffs are damaged or have more than light surface rust.
5. All of the cuffs still have both signs attached.
6. All of them come with at least 1 perfectly working key.
7. No cuff of that design is known to exist.
8. These cuffs, if real, would probably predate the Police, (Boston had the 1st Dept in the US.
1838).
9. Georgetown Plantation was probably a private enterprise so it is doubtful that a Police
Department would oversee and supply handcuffs to such a business.
10. I say so!

I agree with the masses here....they are junk. All signs point to pure East Indian junk with a little doctoring from some low down shyster. The people who put these things up for sale as originals should be shot.

How about locking them on there wrists and filling the locks with 5 min. epoxy. Then give them a dull file so they can spend hours trying to file them off....
