It has been a while since I have posted here. Hope at least a few of you remember me, hi Stan, hi Ian, Hi John
As many of you know handcuffs are a controlled export item in the United States and require an export license. It has taken a few months but we seem to have cracked the code, have received several licenses and are shipping overseas again.
The submission process is electronic, but by law the government has 30 days to review each application. Seems almost like a waiting period, we have gotten all of ours back within 5 or 6 weeks, but have been told it can take up to 8 weeks. So far we have received a license for every application we have filed. Of course items ship only after we have the license. Each shipment requires a new license.
The point here is that if you live outside the United States or Canada and would like a set of modern cuffs we would be happy to help. The store at www.erestraint.com carries many popular brands and calculates international shipping as you checkout. If you are looking for something not listed we might be able to get it for you.
We checked and antique handcuffs and leg irons are not exempt from the federal laws governing the export of police and law enforcement equipment. Please feel free to email us at admin@erestraint.com. We would be happy at assist if someone in the United States wants to send a set of handcuffs or leg irons overseas.
