#1Is it just me or do the model 300 peerless handcuffs have a better finish than the 500's & the 700's? Also seems like the insides of the double strands are rounded and the other two aren't. Is cost of production a big reason?

Good observations. The double strands are noticeably more rounded than the 500's and 700's are, enough to make them slightly more comfortable, that is if handcuffs are suppose to be comfortable to wear.
As for the finish, the 300's go from one extreme to the other. I have a beautiful set of old 300's that have a nice, smooth mirror finish. I have a couple of sets that have a smooth matt finish, and a set that looks as scraped as the 500's. All the sets are new or nearly new. I'm guessing that since the 300's were made over so many years that changes made as time went by didn't warrant a model number change since the basic design remained the same. That's just my thought.
As far as costs to produce, I don't have an answer for that.
