Handcuffs from Pakistan

Saharan M Arif. (PRESIDENT). contacted us with photos of what looked like nickel plated Darby handcuffs, collars and leg irons. He asked that we send cash for a sample of each. We did and for a few weeks he was emailing saying that the payment did not arrive.

Now our email is being returned saying that there is no mailbox there with that address. Does anyone here know the person mentioned above? Any experence with him as a supplier?

Please keep the conjecture to a minimum. I know that many of you are thinking that I am crazy for sending cash to Pakistan, but I have done this before with other products from there with mixed results (leather and canvas items).

I will tell you this I did not send more than I would be willing to lose on a singe trip to the casino. I certainly looked at the situation as a gamble.

Yea I knew something like this was comming. I hope that I was not kidding myself when I thought that "They can't all be bad people there and that most would be trying to make a living."

Still, has anyone had dealings with this particular person. I mean really the jokes are pretty easy to toss around. We see lots of Pakistan cuffs, were are they comming from?

I have had numerous emails from this guy offering to see me cuffs. His pictures look nice, but I have never tried to buy anything from him.

The last email was in late March.

Dear Orchid,

Of all persons, I, too, have been solicited often by Mr Arif. The company name is Pakent, which presumably stands for Pakistan Enterprises, and is located in Sialkot, Pakistan. I do not archive e-mails, yet recall he uses the http://www.paknet.com.pk/ server, which is a legitimate server. Pakent and Paknet are unrelated except as acronyms.

A few years ago, Pakent did sample me on two knuckle-dusters. The quality was excellent. It also means Pakent is a real company that actually does manufacture real, physical items.

Perhaps, Paknet Limited will lend you a courtesy assist. It is worth trying, as Pakent depends on them and they are the largest ISP in Pakistan.

Hi Orchid,

I expect you know Harry Tasker from zwangsjacke.net (possibly better than I do? , he is quite experienced regarding business with pakistan. As far as I can tell there are mainly two companies in pakistan (KUB and Victorworks), who produce all those nickel plated darbies and other things coming from pakistan, so I expect other companies to be just restellers of those two, at least from my perspective those two are "where all those cuffs from pakistan come from". The releation between these two companies itself is difficult enough, but it looks like today they are both producing their own cuffs (which hasn't always been that way and could be the reason why they have really quite some similar products).

If you haven't done so so far I'd recommend talking to Harry, I expect he either can hint you on who to contact if you plan doing some imports from there yourself, or you two could organize something together going the other way around the globe (not sure if that makes sense, possibly if you don't want to order very large quantities for the beginning)? Don't know if he knows the person you're talking about though
