The Handcuff Case , " Case "?????

Greetings , I am trying to determine dates of manufacture of handcuff cases made by the Safety Speed Holster, only the cities of manufacture are different , Whittier, Los Angeles and Monebello, can someone tell me what years they produced accessories at the three locations ??

Hi Rooster,
I am a avid collector of Safety Speed products, specifically the clamshell holster and can give you a pretty close date on your items. The oldest cuff cases are going to be from Los Angeles, as they were only there a short time after buying the Jewitt patents for the clamshell. I would put any LA marked items from 1939 to 1942. The Whittier products come next, Safety Speed moving to try and stay in business during the war due to lack of leather and the metal needed to make the clamshell frame, which were actually made of scrap aircraft aluminium. There was not much scarp aircraft anything during WWII. They stayed quite awhile there, probably 1942 to about 1968. The company then moved to Montebello, where they remained until they closed mysteriously about 5 years ago. The doors were closed forever, website shut down, and all inventory sold off to various wholesalers and discount places.
The vast majority of my Saftey Speed items, and I have over 50 complete rigs of different time periods, are from the Montebello days. I have a few Whittier made clmashells, and only two with the LA address.
I hope that addresses your question, they made outstanding police gear, but the price was always just a bit higher than the competition, and that was what I believe led to their demise. Use your saddle soap and neatsfoot oil and keep your cuff cases in top shape.

hi tim , I have recently purchased a two clamshell and the revolvers are alittle loose in the clamshell is there a way to snug the holsters up ??
