Cuffs Question

Hi there,

Someone gave me these cuffs at a market today and I was interested to find out a bit more about them.

They appear to be of the classic Darby design, however the ends are stamped as follows:

One has R.C.S 1953 and what appears to be the old War Department "Broad Arrow", the other has 21C and then a line with 247 and below that the number 3.

Also (although it's not visible on the scans) there is either 48C or 480 stamped by the hinge on one of the cuffs.





I've done some googling but not been able to find out any more about these, however I did find this forum, so I was wondering if anyone here knew anything about them.

Hi, do a search on the "Broad arrow", I found a site several years back with pictures, the different designs will tell you which Commomwealth country of origin for the use of the cuff, but they were made in the UK.

The RCS cuffs are not as common as Hiatts, but are certainly not rare. I would put the value of yours at about $75 or so.
