Chinese Handcuffs

Hi.

I will be contributing to the 2007 Handcuff annual with an article about crime, punishment, and use of restraints in China.
In the research that I have been doing, I keep finding articles about the country's human rights violations. I wrote a paragraph about it and how it pertains to the use of restraints. The country is such a beautiful place with so much to offer and I did not wish to get into a political discussion about the subject. I found this link about some of the torture techniques used there and decided that I would not include it in the article but find that it might be of interest here.
I have to say, some of them make me cringe just thinking about it.

Mark - I've read a lot about the Falun Gong reports of torture. Most of the Chinese people I've talked to do not believe those reports of torture and some who believe the reports think it is justified as the group is supposedly trying to subvert the government.

The group is actually responsible for many of the proxy servers which allow the Chinese to surf the internet uncensored.

Anyways - whatever they're doing with the cuffs - I received a small shipment of Chinese cuffs just earlier today - I'll post links later tonight...

Have you tried Amnisty International? They might have a few articles you can reference re China.

Hi,
Yes, I found quite a bit of information about this and other human rights groups regarding their stance in China. There is so much that can be debated about both sides of this politically hot topic. In my article I tried to explain the opposing views and to be as neutral as possible. I tried to include any of that info and how it ties in with restraints and their use.
I believe that my mention of the fact that handcuffs are used for torture about as much as for prisoner transportation was enough for the article. Showing the torture techniques was better suited for the forum.
