Thumbscrew info

Hi:
I've been trying to buy this thumbscrew for a year, and finally got it today. Anyone have any info they can contribute about it? Where have you seen a similar one?

I saw a few like this in Germany in museums.

The idea with this type is since the screw does not go far down enough to totally crush the digits it is likely more of a restraint as in thumbs locked in as well as toes.

This makes sense as there is also a section that padlocks.
