If anyone doesn't mind looking up ebay item number 2235691615. I know they look like the commonly available cuffs seen at flea markets everywhere but if you notice they have a welded chain and appear to be more solid. I'm the winning bidder so I'll get to see them closer soon.

The cuffs you bought are simply older and of much higher quality than the cheap ones you can buy today.
They are Takeda cuffs. The design was never great, but the earlier ones were Japanese made and of much higher quality than the toy like ones sold for the last 3o years or so. For years they were made in Taiwan and more recently China proper.

Thanks for the reply. I've always wondered about the origin of that design. Man there must be dozens of variations of that cuff. I've seen at least 15 different makes of the same design....if not more.
