I'm a newbie to this site and handcuff collecting, although not at all to handcuff functional use. My upfront apologies to any loyal friends of DHW and or its competent principals, but I would like to express my frustrations regarding dealings with this company and get a read on whether it's just me or a systemic issue.
-- Our several eBay dealings have been flawless.
-- But, out of four, maybe five, website orders, three have had "issues".
-- Two of those have have had clear product shipment errors that I noted as quite / rather annoying but not economically feasible to correct.
-- Last and most recent, though, has quite set my hair on fire. An eight pound package "delivered" via UPS resulted in delivery of an empty box. The temptation, of course, would to be blame UPS (and they should have noticed) but it was very, very clear to me that the shipper, DHW, had underpackaged / secured the shipment.

Am I alone in these experiences??

I've been dealing with Chris at DHW since he started in business and have placed many orders for USPS and UPS delivery. I've never had a problem. I just looked at some boxes from previous orders, and they are all sealed both ends with brown tape.

Thanks, Stan, but this shipment, clearly, was not.

We have purchased from them 6 or 7 times and found them to be honest and straight forward. They represent their items well and ship fast. Never had a problem.

I have delt with DHW several times and had shipping via
usps and ups. They always get the package to me in 2 or 3
business days in very secure packaging. No problems here.

I've had a few shipments from Chris as well, to Canada, with no problems.
Since we all know Chris to be an up front honest kind of guy, I'd be interested in his side and response. - Graham

I'll join the chorous of satisfied customers.

But our satisfaction don't mean nuthin', if you aren't satisfied.

I'd express my frustrations with DHW. It may be that they have some new staff that needs a beating or a procedure that needs a tune up.

Hi Joe,

you should better write "I highly recommend them to all from USA and Canada", because no one else is able to buy cuffs from DHW anymore. In the past, when US exporting laws for handcuffs were less strict, I only made good experiences with DHW - as private collector as well as with www.Cuffsland.com, because DHW were our dealer for US cuffs.

Best regards,
Guenter

I too am very happy with Chris and DHW.

I have been dealing with him for many years and have found him to be the epitome of professionalism and courteous service.

Guenter

You make a good point. I actually recommend four places.

For keys, escapology equipment, vintage and custom cuffs and literature I recommend Cannon's Great Escapes

For new cuffs in North America I recommend Discount Handcuff Warehouse

For new and vintage cuffs in Europe I recommend Cuffsland

For new cuffs in the UK I recommend the Handcuff Shop

I have had nothing but favorable experiences buying from all four firms.

Well, it has rapidly become obvious that any negative experience(s) with DHW are unique to me and undoubtedly the result of my own bad kharma.

Steve Santini -- I would like steal a quote from your post regarding Chris: "I.......have found him to be the epitome of professionalism and courteous service." -- because I can't think of any better descriptive words myself.

Chris called me this morning and would accept nothing less than immediately making this right at his own expense with no further proof of shipment loss / damage required or expected. All I can say is thank you, and WOW!!

I also want to thank everyone who took the time to comment on my original post. Needless to say I will be doing business with Chris and DHW for a long time to come and urging friends to do the same.
