Ok Gang - It is that time of year again. Who is going to the convention?

If you have never gone before, now is the time. The previous three conventions have all been great experiences for everyone. There will be plenty handcuffs to see, shows and lectures to watch, but most importantly many very nice people to meet. Many of the regulars here on the forum will be there.
About the only thing that will be lacking will be sleep, too much to do for that.

as part of the lock show. Looking forward to it again.

Unfortunately, there are no plans for the Castle as I do not expect to get to the L.A. area until later in the day on Thursday.
We will have John Bushey, Mark Lundblad, Joe Fox and others to keep us magically entertained in the meantime.

According to the flight table it seems like my flight will arrive about 2:30 PM at LAX. Will anyone else be at the airport about that time? I'm not sure to stay in LA or just catch the shuttle to Ontario. Any suggestions?

Not only will I be there, but I'm bringing many many friends.
By friends I mean a collection of escape artist books - including nearly 20 editions of Houdini's pitchbooks, and many
many pitchbooks by other escape artists. I'll have them for display, along with many old escape artist photos, letters, and postcards, and look forward to any pitchbooks anyone else brings-I'd love to see them! See everyone there. GREAT news that friends from across the Atlantic will be coming--Great news Lars, and I'm looking forward to meeting Michael as well.

To those of you flying into LAX on Friday, It is very possible I can pick you up and drive you to Ontario. LAX is not so far from where I live, and I have a mini van that could easily carry four of you with bags.

There is one catch. I will not be staying at the convention Sunday, I have to drive home staurday night after the show. You would have to book a shuttle or something on the way back, or find someone esle driving that way.

If anyone wants to save some money and take me up on this, just shhot me a private e-mail, and we'll work something out.

I have almost decided to fly into LAX instead of Ontario. I think knocking over $200 off the cost of the flight is worth it. I don't have my flight booked yet, but do want to arrive on Thursday. The Castle sounds great. Last year we were lucky to have the Pendragons appear. This year it will be: Mark Haslam Danny Cole and Gustavo Lorgia in the Palace.
I would be willing to drive again, but I am not sure if anyone would want to come with me unless they have a GPS or Fred shows up. Otherwise I know that there is some great magic to see in San Fransisco which is probably where we will end up.

Cliff, I hope as organizer, it will work out for you. I think I had reservations for 14 last year but only 5 or 6 could actually attend. It was a great time though.

If it happens, I would like to be included.

Last year, I drove up to the Hotel, spent half an hour trying to find my room, got dressed in suit and tie, drove down to Hollywood where we picked up Lars and then went to the Castle. By going that route, we got to the Castle pretty late but did not miss much of anything. I wonder if we got a very early start, if we could get a couple of cars to go from the hotel to the Castle and back. Assuming that everyone was ready, I see this as a working proposition. If everyone was ready at 6:00 we could make it to the Castle by 8:00 easily. (as long as I am not navigating!)

I was planning to pick up Lars at the airport about 3, and possibly Margarette as well if she is into it. That would get us there easily by 6 pm. They would just have to request a late night check in, which Double tree is glad to do if asked. I might (haven't asked yet) pick up Andrew Basso at His hotel in hollywood if he wants to come along.

That way mark, you could drive straight up from San Diego to the castle and meat us there.

After I would had off Lars and Margarette to you, and I would probably drop Andrew off in Hollywood.

If anyone wants to drive to the castle from Ontario, well I say the more the merrier, but so far this is the plan I was thinking of.

It gets us there earlier and we can see more shows or shmooze more etc.

Cool Bruce, as I said the more the merrier. Will you be at the duble tree then Thursday mid afternnon? Will you have a car? if you or anyone else has a car, you could easily meet us at the castle. I will give anyone who needs them VERY explicit directions.

Castle trip sounds good! I still haven't booked my flight yet. I might be flying into Ontario after all due to a friend's help. I'll know in a day or so what airport I fly into.

Just so everyone is clear about this, I just spoke top my friend at the castle, IF he is there that night, which he may not be, he can get some of us in cheaper. But assuming he is not, the cover charge is $20 at the door, and you must buy dinner which ranges from $20 to $50. Given that if you time it right you can see 5 magic shows, I never felt that was too expensive.
