I'd think it to be not normal / right, but not unheard of. Of my five pair of modern Peerless working cuffs and leg irons, four 700 and one 500, I have one cuff of a 700N pair that will drag very slightly if the key isn't turned hard all the way. I have other, collector cuffs that do this routinely though. Sirchie comes to mind.i have a pair of peerless mod 700 and i discovered the other day that when you put the key in and twist it all the way to open the handcuffs that the teeth drag slightly on the ratchet when pulling the single strand out...does anyone else have the problemm or are they supposed to do this

Unless it's severe, I wouldn't see it as much of a wear problem. What I'd be more concerned about is having the cuffs stuck closed; if it's bad enough. Peerless keys, by the way, are about as universal as you can get,IMHO. I like the 2005+ S&W keys for my personal car keychains and neck lanyards, but I file their bits down; pretty much to match the Peerless. I too have encountered this issue in the past. My key from my S&W model 90 cuffs would work the locks on my issued Peerless cuffs smoothly, but when I used it to open the Peerless leg irons that we kept in our patrol car, it would rub against the lock case while being turned.
