Hey Joe got the takeda cuffs today and have a couple ?s

First off, mine have no markings unlike the ones in your gallery that say "monte carlo". Other wise look identical. Was there a takeda copy back then or did some just not have markings?

First question: what are they made of? A magnet wont stick and they feel a little lighter.

Second: What was their original purpose. Were they always a novelty?

Third: are they the successor to the taihei cuffs right above them on your gallery?

There have been many different copies of the Takeda cuffs with all sorts of markings. The originals would have been made of steel, but many copies may be made of a non-ferrous alloy. It would be really hard to determine who made a given copy.

I understand. They're still neat though and I've already got offers to buy the rest of the stuff in that auction so I won't have much in them. Definately made better than even the older taiwan ones I have even though they're not steel. Do you ever see the original ones for sale? How much would they go for?

Thanks for all the help. BTW, don't think I'm concentrating on these cheap takeda styles. In the past coulple weeks I've aquired: 1 american stainless 105, 2 pairs SW model 90s, 1 peerless and several other cheaper ones. I'm sorry I ever quit this collection in the first place. Think of how far I could be.

I'm still wanting to aquire a pair of S&W model 94s in the box but man they seem to keep going higher and higher. Those were my dream collectable as a kid.
