#4I wouldn't get too excited about them just yet till one sees more details and photo's. Hiatts has manufactured a similiar thing and it was a pain in the rear because the double lock was to easy to engage.

#8I've done some checking, and this is what I have been told:
"S&W says they hope to release the lever lock cuffs early next year (2007). They have gone through several concepts to improve it. They want the button to retract into the cuff after being activated so the sharp edge of the lever doesn't scratch anyone."
I would think that accidentally double locking it before trying to put them on someone would be a bigger problem.
I'm sure handcuff warehouse and all the other S&W dealers will sell them once they are available. I will post here when I know they are available.

Was Hiatts' lock on the heel. like the S&W? That looks like a fairly difficult place to trip accidentally. Of course, experience will be the final judge of that. Another variation for the collectors!

Sure, it stands for "Military & Police" - but who else do we expect S&W to produce their restraints for! Otherwise these latest cuffs on their website are just a variation of their standard Model 100's, no need to give 'em a fancy new name.
Surely the minds of the 'powers that be' at S&W could have been better employed in spicing up their product range - instead of dreaming up stupid names!

#11The name is an advertising gimick.
The Military & Police name is an old S&W tradition, dating back to about 1896. It refers to what is now designated as the Model 10 revolver. That weapon, called the S&W Miliraty & Police, was introduced along with a new cartridge, the .38 Special. It's their basic level .38 revolver designed for use as a service revolver by, well, the military and the police. (At that time, the Army was using the .38 Long Colt cartridge which will chamber in a .38 Spl, but is not as powerful.) There are "nicer" models with adjustable sights, etc. A jillion cops have hung S&W M&Ps from their belts.
The gun is now out of favor, due to the popularity of automatics.
S&W is pumping the name this year. They have a new M&P automatic pistol. They've also introduced a new line of cuffs with that name. Maybe they think the name has good ju ju.

#12The nicest M&P revolver ever produced by S&W IMHO was the .357/.38 Model 13 in either 4" or the 3" RB.

#13That 3 incher would make a nice carry piece. I've always liked the three inch, as a compromise between the service revolver and the two inch belly gun.
But we've gotten way OT.
