Barnard Handcuffs

I recently purchased this pair of Barnard handcuffs.




They appear to be a normal pair of Tower Bean handcuffs, but lack the normal Tower marking and have the marking Barnard on the backside of each cuff.

Stan Willis has a pair Barnard handcuffs like this one. You can see it pictured on his CD. (If you don't have Stan's CD you should. It is a great resource.)

I would guess that Barnard might be a police supply house or something similar. They would have bought the cuffs from Tower, but marketed them under their own name.

Does anyone have any real information?

Hi Joe,
I had a pair of Tower with the oval link, also marked exactly like this one,
and also had a pair of Tower Bean marked like this one. I sold them several
years ago, and nothing further, but there are more out there.

Tower Double Locking with the Barnard maarking? Do you remember if it was also marked Tower?

Hi Stan,
The Tower Beans had no other markings. The Tower did have a
very faint Tower stamping, but had Barnard stamped at an
angle similar to my Tower Beans. I never knew what it was,
but had assumed it was the name of some officer. Obviously
not, as I now realize, but I got them both from a local
Police Department, along with my Marlin, Bean Cobb, Bean Patrolman, and a few other Tower cuffs.
