Amazing handcuffs

Yesterday I acquired the most amazing handcuffs I have ever seen. These 1/3 scale Peerless handcuffs are fully working, even the double lock feature is there.

These handcuffs are manufactured of the skilled miniaturist David Kucer in Montreal, Canada. Mr. Kucer generally makes 1/3 scale firearms in a price range from $2500 to $12000. I would recommend you to check his website; www.kucer.com The miniatures manufatured of Mr. Kucer are absolutely stunning.

Thanks to Mark L for letting me in to the small club of miniature handcuffs owners. Only 20 pairs are made.

Presumably these would be used on small-time crooks, miscreant midgets and lawless leprechauns?

Excellent find for you and superb work by Mr Kucer.

All the "lady/child-size darby" persons can hang it up now.

Lars,

Congratulations of the mini-cuffs.
I have had mine for a long time and I had no idea about the fine craftsman who made them as I bought them from a fellow collector.
I am glad that I was able to find info on him while trying to get you hooked up.
He is a very skilled machinist and have had the pleasure to correspond with him since I tried to find him for you.
I urge everyone to check out Mr. Kucer's web-site and learn how he has had to make his own tools by miniturizing them from full sized machines.

Again, thanks for the info helping me to find Mr. Kucer. These miniatures are truly adorable. They were not cheap but well worth their price.
Yes, this craftsman is definitely skilled. He also sent me a booklet with his miniature firearms. It¡¦s amazing how every single detail is working, exactly as on the original. No plastic components, true steel only.

Dear Jack, it is actually the size that counts. Besides handcuff collecting I have always been fascinated by miniatures of all kinds. Now there is a proper size handcuff to restrain the small intruders turning up in my dreams at night.

Dear Lars,

Point taken.

On the other hand, so to speak, an amusing if not persuasive hypothesis presents itself. Perhaps Mr Kucer's pint-sized Peerless are original thumb cuffs, not miniatures at all, and what proceeded them are giant, oversized versions, which only coincidentally fit the wrist.

Stan recently bought the last set of the 20 Peerless miniature handcuffs ever made. After my purchase I have had several contacts with Mr. Kucers son, Zavie Kucer, since Im planning to buy a miniature firearm as well.

Today Zavie told me that he and his father have talked about another miniature handcuff project. He also asked me which model I would suggest to be the one to miniaturize. Zavie sent me pictures of S&W Model 100 and Model 90. Since both models are contemporary to the previous miniature Peerless I suggested them to miniaturize a vintage model instead.

My suggestions are:

Adams
H&R Supercuffs 123
Stotz
Marlin Daley

They have to take a set apart to be able to copy all internal details. As for the firearms, every single detail is scaled down from the original part.

Now folks, please let Mr. Kucer know what model you would like to see in miniature. Regardless of what model it will be Im going to by a set since the level of craftsmanship is extraordinary and the number of miniatures will be very limited.

Good job, Lars,
The idea of asking him to make more cuffs did not enter my mind. It would be great if he could make a vintage cuff.
My vote would be for the Marlins or the Bean Cobbs because they can be taken apart easily and put back together without destroying them. Both models use a small screw to hold them all together and if he has difficulty making screws, there are screw companies that he can buy from.

I would get an idea of price before commiting to an order. The new one could be a lot more expensive than the Peerless.

It's a good idea to choose a model that can be taken apart without beeing destroyd. I have mailed Zavie Kucer suggeting any of these models. I also asked him for some kind of estimated price level.

Maybe we could get a more favorable price if Mr. Kucer had an advance order from a group of us collectors.
If we got enough orders committed and a deposit made to him, I think the price would be more to our liking.

Lars Holst was nice enough to send me some pictures. Lars would you (or anyone else) mind posting other pictures from different directions so I could learn more about the mechanisms?

( I had an interestinng inntroduction to handcuffs. When I was a 8 or 9 years old I went with Dad to the workshop for the day. I noticed some antique handcuffs and started playing with them. Before I knew it I had one locked around my wrist, but beinng a kid I didn't care about it. When I was done playing I innocently asked dad to take them off. I did not understand the significancce of his tellinng me that since they were old there was no key!

I also did not appreciate the the skill he showed in picking the lock. I do today.)

How about a pair of 1/3rd scale Tower DL legirons to complement the handcuffs. It would be interesting to see a 1/3rd scale Towers key.
