Nation-wide publicity - what's so "knuckle-head about THAT?
This story is nearly identical to Manzini's infamous 1974 Brooklyn Bridge Jump - where the police and rescue personnel responded to the report of a "jumper" on the bridge...which the result of Manzini promptly being arrested (and escaping from the police handcuffs while in the back of the squad car, mind you). This was a pre-planned publicity stunt of Manzini's - that resulted in TONS of national news for him - both on television & newspapers.
If Michael Patrick had pre-planned this publicity stunt - then I say congratulations. Look at the national press he's gotten from it (if he had simply completed the escape & surfaced, would we be talking about him now?).
Of course, if Michael did nearly drown (i.e. due to the currents),and then being arrested with a $50,000 bond is no laughing matter. How much was pre-planned? - we'll probably never know....but you can't fault the guy for all of the publicity he's getting (and isn't THAT the name of the game?)He is no knuckle-head.

#8If it was pre-planned, I think there would have been some kind of media coverage before hand. I haven't seen or heard of any. Maybe I missed it.
$50K bail, lawyers fees, etc. versus publicity for a 55 year old escape artist and more bookings? He got one booking out of it.
Maybe I'm a knucklehead.
