Darley Cuffs

I recently picked up a set of W.S. Darley & Co. handcuffs. While not at the top of my wish list, the price was right, and they're in very good condition and I'm glad to have them.

Anyone know any details about the things?

I know that Darley is still in business as a supplier of fire equipment, and in earlier days also supplied police equipment. My guess is that these things are an early Peerless "knock-off". The overall shape is like an early Peerless Model 1 or 2, but they have no double-lock nor pawl groove. I'm thinking somebody waited until the basic 1912 Carney patent expired and then came out with these.

I'm curious whether there was only the one "model" of Darley cuffs, or whether they had other variations, perhaps with a double-lock or barrel key, etc.
