Auctions ending early on eBay France!

A number of auctions of rare restraints on eBay France have ended early the latest two years. Some buyers offer to buy the items off eBay. The latest early ending happened today (eBay # 110057903750). This time it was a French bicycle chain handcuff in great condition, last time it was a srt of Lyon Presto. I was bidding and planned to make another bid later but didn't get the chance. Any one else planned to bid?

Im pretty sure about whom one of the buyers is and I have reported this to eBay.
Next time I see an auction of a rare restraint on eBay France Im going to do like Mark L; sending the seller a note and telling him not to end the auction early since he will get much better paid not doing so.

Hi Lars,

I too was interested in bidding on that piece as it was slightly different than the one I have.
I should have written to him as you indicated.
I will leave a copy here for those who would like a chance at a nice item in the future. I have had some sellers tell me that they considered an off-eBay offer but will go full term after reading my letter.

Dear Seller,
The item you're selling is a very desirable one that many collectors wish they could purchase without going
through the eBay bidding process. They will ask you to end the auction soon and give you a time limit to do so.

Please do not fall for this ploy. The offer might sound like a good one, but it is serving only the interest of the buyer and is against eBay rules. You will only cheat yourself out of more money. Please consider letting the auction run till the end. There are several collectors like me that will bid what the item is worth or more.
Usually, this will be in the final minutes of the auction. If you consider selling early, please do not take the first offer. Please allow others to make other offers. I would be happy to tell you what the item might bring in at auction and what similar items have been going for.
Good luck with the auction and I hope you consider keeping it on for the duration of the auction.

Anyone that wishes to use this message had my permission to copy it and send it along or you may wish to change it or add your own words.
Lets make ebay an even playing field!

Hi Mark,

It's a very good message to send. I will translate it to French and send it to the seller next time I see a chain handcuff, a Presto Lyon or something else rare on eBay France. In 9 cases of 10 the auction is ended early on French eBay if it comes to a rare restraint. It's strange but this almost never happens to other sites than eBay France...

Something is fishy in France!

I would like a copy of your French translation. I use a online translator and it works good on the words, but the phrases often do not make sense. It would be best to have someone who speaks French do it for you. If you have trouble doing it, my mother was a French teacher so it would be no problem for me to get it done.

Good luck in your search for the Lyon Presto. (correct spelling this time-Stan)
Keep in mind that there is a long chain and a short chain version .
The two cuffs are slightly different from each other so the difference is not just in the size of the chain.

Sadly it's not just France. A pair of Hiatt Bean cuffs ended early quite recently as well. They were in wonderful condition.

Stop an auction before the end is a real problem. We have got this problem in FRANCE but also in the other countries too. You are right RPM

I agree with Mark. The best way to stop this problem is to write the sellers. It is the reason why I always send emails when I am interested by a set due to this problem. I request them not to stop the auctions before the end. Like you gentlemen in the past, I was interested by some rare cuffs and I was very disappointed not to bid.

I have not written for this auction. Yes, I had written to the seller for the set 280050590507. I requested him not to stop the sale because I was very interested to add this set in my collection. Finally, With less than 400 euros I am very happy to be the winner. He replied me that he had received offers from a lot of buyers. Yes gentlemen I say again from a lot of buyers. He was very surprise by this interest. So I am sure that some collectors do not respect the rules of eBay. It is amazing no !!!

Mister HOLST you have written to eBay about this problem. It is a very good idea. You told us having suspicions about somebody. You gave in the past my full name and identity to sellers on eBay. You know that it is forbidden to give on internet the identity of a person. You wrote my full name on handcuffs.org too. I wrote you personal emails about our bad actions. French sellers on eBay were shocked too by your attitude. One of them is still ready to denounce you to ebay on my request. I have kept his email address. By your bad attitude in the past, I have today some new fears. I hope for you that you have serious proof if you have given a name again. You are advise if eBay write me about this problem I do stay without any reaction.

I want the other collectors advise about our problem.

This ending of auctions is sickening but group any bunch of people together and you'll have the best and worst of society mixed together. Why would anyone expect anything else ?

Greedy sly and selfish are what this person or persons are just don't be surprised he's out there.

some people cry if they can't get an auction
but be onnest the prices of cuffs are not as normal anymore
you do it al by yourself I bid more I bid more
be normal and bid normal prices and don't try to get what others want
there is al lot of anger between the collectors at this moment

but be onnest and bid with confidence

It seems to me that the real problem is with the greedy SELLERS who think they will do better to end an auction early. Like the rest of you, I am also unhappy when a cuff is removed after I've spent time tracking it and maybe researching the piece before bidding. I don't ask sellers to end auctions early, and I wont end early when I sell on ebay.
