Manchu Handcuffs

I just bought a pair of Manchu handcuffs from Joe Tanner. Thanks Joe!

I have a similar pair already, but they lack the double locking buttons that are found on this pair. Similar to the more common Takeda cuffs the double lock can be controlled, on or off, by the prisoner. This sounds a bit strange, but since the cuffs lock via a star wheel instead of a rachet, they can not be shimmed. Thus security does not depend so much on double locking.

If you have a pair of Manchu cuffs please tell me if they have the double locking buttons.

I picked up a pair of the Manchu double locks but wasn't sure what I had. Thanks to the forum it was a quick search away. I suspect that the double lock is an earlier design because of the lower patent number. I believe the other model has the star burst logo. Neat handcuff.
