While it is still early in the year, this item may turn out to be the catch of the year for some collector.

this is an extraordinary rare piece it was made by hiatt. I have only seen another like it and that was in stans collection.

I have never seen a cuff like this one. Could someone tell me how old it is?

The cuff is quite old. It may be nearly 200 years old. Stan Willis has a similar cuff made by Griffin. Griffin was a company the preceded Hiatt and went out of business sometime about 1818. The Hiatt company evolved out of the Griffin company at about that time. My guess is that this is a very early Hiatt cuff, made about the same time as the Stan's Griffin cuff.

P.s. No the Griffin that made Stan's cuff is not the same Griffin that put this Hiatt cuff up for sale. Or if it is the same person then Michael is truly a great magician.

Stan's GRIFFIN bar cuff made about 1815 in Birmingham, England.
Note the difference in the workmanship and smoothness of the bows. The lock case is also smaller on the Griffin (mine) cuff.
