Who makes HWC Handcuffs ?

does anyone know who makes HWC handcuffs? They look like Taiwanese products. In which country is HWC located?

HWC stands for Hamburger Woolen Company. They are a uniform and police supply company in New York State. All the HWC cuffs I have seen are made in Taiwan (or China), and branded for HWC.

thank you very much for the reply! This confirmed my suspicion about the cuffs' origin. I asked this question, because the Munich police asked for my help concerning a crime (rape), where handcuffs were used to chain the victim. These handcuffs are almost 100% identical to a HWC model I have in my collection (), except for not being stamped "HWC". The crime-cuffs are not marked with a manufacturer name. The only stamp is a 4 digit serial number (with leading zero). A typical no-name product from Asia - not the worst quality but unfortunately most probably impossible to track (find out where they were bought or even who bought them).

I used to own a pair of HWC, Precise, and Bianchi handcuffs.
They were all marked TAIWAN on one of the chain links.

HWC cuffs have been around for years. Surprisingly, many police officers in the USA use the stainless steel model (SSC-1) even though they are not NIJ certified. The are what they are-not the best, not the worst. They make great back up cuffs in my opinion. The nickel model is the cheap ones & I wouldn't recommend anyone trying to use those for duty use.
