Unknown handcuffs dug out in Berlin

Hello fellow collectors,

another hobby of mine is going "treasure hunting" with my metal collector. And so, I also participate at some (German) "treasure hunter" forums. There a fellow hunter dug out a pair of handcuffs, which I have not seen before (please see picture). They were found in Berlin together with other German WWII police items.

The cuffs are made of aluminum with movable bows made of steel. For me they look like a mixture between a German K&D or a French La Massenotte and a Clejuso 12D. The swivel pretty looks like Clejuso, but I do not know a 12D made of aluminium. Also 12D has the keyholes in the middle - the dug out cuffs have same on the upper side of the lock-case. A La Massenotte does not have this kind of swivel (at least I have not seen such a version yet) and a K&D also does not have such a swivel and it also consists of a left and a right cuff, while the dug out one had two left cuffs.

Has anyone handcuffs like the excavated in his collection?

hi guenter

I've no idea what this cuff is
and I've seen many over the years
specially when they come to me for the keys
do you know does it take a barrel key or a solid bit key
or is it just like the la massenotte a flat key and are the bras inserts out of the cuffs
for me it looks like a clejuso only a very early model
or something like that
I'm pretty sure they are from germany bassed on the swivel and how they look like

Well it does help as in the process of elimination. The connecting chain, and bows are different. Given how corroded the cuffs are, and the Aluminum is in bad shape, I don't think there was brass in the keyway. Brass doesn't decay as fast as Aluminum.

@Tremex: no, those are K&D at eBay (BTW: congratulations, Lars, seems to be a nice cuff). The Berlin piece is different to a K&D, because - as I wrote before - it has a different swivel connection and it also does not consist of a left and a right cuff like the K&D does.

@Patrick: the owner told me that there is no brass left in the keyholes. It seems that a solid key (like at a Clejuso 12D) was needed and not a flat one (like at K&D or La Massenotte).

that's my opinion to
so what I guess that it is german is right
germany is the only country of that time era that uses solid bit keys with those kind of cuffs france uses only barrel keys ot flat keys
and no other country in that time era uses oval shape cuffs
it must be german I think

But it's very strange that I have never seen this model offered anywhere in Germany (e.g. at German eBay).
