#1Does anyone know why peerless switched from the 500 to the 700 models. The only difference that there is is that the rivets are on the outside. Does anyone know anything about the differences between the two, other than the visual aspect.

#2It likely was for cost reasons.
It is cheaper to punch a proud head rivet as oppossed to the old smooth surface welded in rivet construction Peerless used to favor.

#3Also, the old locking mechanism with the coil spring and bullet shaped housings that encased it was more expensive to make than the new mechanism which operates off a cheap leaf spring.Does anyone know why peerless switched from the 500 to the 700 models.
