Questions about recent purchases

Hello;

I recently acquired two pairs of handcuffs at an estate sale:

Item #1: Peerless chain-link handcuffs, black, good condition. I sent a question to peerless.net with the serial #, etc, and they said it was made in 1986, but didn't tell me the model number.

Item #2: American Handcuffs Company N-100, nickel finish, excellent condition. I know that this company is out of business, but thats about all i know.




Q: Anyone know what model number corresponds to a 1986 Peerless?

Q: How much is either of them worth, if anything?


Costs to me:

Peerless: $5.00
American: $6.00

Answer 1:

It should be a high 6 digit number without being proceeded by the number sign (#).

Answer 2:

Older black penetrate finished cuffs generally do not age very gracefully, but your American N-100 might bring $40-$50 on auction.

In either case, you certainly didn’t overpay for them…

Disregard answer 1. They are Peerless 10 oz. Black penetrate finish handcuffs. At some point, they designated the chained 10 oz. model as the model 300 to differentiate them from the hinged cuffs, leg irons, etc.

$40-50? Holy crap, i didn't anticipate that!

The Peerless cuffs came with a black Gould & Goodrich case. The mechanism is kind of rough and gritty, but some light machine oil eliminated most of the problem. However, one of the double-lock pins has to be really shoved into position...hopefully more oil will do the trick.
