Is anyone familier with the name of the USA based company that act as 3rd party shipper. I know they exsist but haven't been able to track a name down.
This is a companys that will receive items on behalf of a purchaser where the seller will not ship to the UK or other overseas destinations.

Maybe some of the non USA based menbers may have used this firm. Sadly times against me so any help would be great.

I don't have any experiences with this service or other mail forwarding companies, because I was always lucky enough to have friends in the U.S. who could receive my packets & and bring them to my place in Germany. But this seems to be a good alternative to handle a transfer if the seller is too narrow-minded to think & sell global...

I will be sure to include info in my auction listing when selling handcuffs.
But why insult the american seller Bjoern? (narrow-minded?)
I only ship to confirmed US address.
And then the red tape of getting an export license.
Also chancing losing my invesment because the item is lost
or stolen in shipping and the buyer does a chargeback against
my account.
pretty broad-minded thinking actually...

Hi Key-Biz,

I think there is one good reason, why only local shipping could be considered kind of "narrow-minded". And this is lower profit. I always ship internationally (from Germany) and a large part of my customers come from other countries and even from overseas. Insured and registered overseas shipping is also possible, so this argument does not count. The license thing indeed is a problem. Has anyone from the States ever checked if you really need a license when shipping a single >>>antique<<< restraint outside USA and Canada?

you folks have gotten off the main subject here & are talking about something else that has been brought up several times in the past & that is PAYPAL CHARGE BACKS.... it is one thing for the SELLER to LOOSE $$$ on any charge back, but the ADDED lose of the HIGHER shipping costs fro overseas packages & the EXTRA fees that PAYPAL charges the seller for the exchange rate etc is to much for many sellers.... also the added paper work & hassle to send a package overseas.... i make overseas sales all the time & i cringe every time because i HAVE to go to a post office to send overseas as the postal stores only handle U.S mailing & it gets very tiresome to have to stand in line for 20 minutes to 35 minutes just to mail a package that i may only be making a very small amount of money on.... in fact several times i have paid out of my own pocket to send a package overseas because several countries cost a fortune to mail to.... there are several countries that you can not use the POSTAL GLOBAL PACKET etc & end up paying MORE money to ship to then you charged the buyer & there are several countries that you end up paying $40. or more for an item that you only charged the buyer $18. for shipping... those are just a few reasons many sellers DO NOT want to ship overseas..... joe

The problem of PayPest chargebacks is a serious one. And it's one that has cost many eBay sellers serious money. If anone outside the UK or Canada claims they never received their goods, and files a claim with PayPest, they WILL get their money back and get to keep the product.

In addition, international shipping is bloody expensive. I get about one request a month to quote international shipping. I have never gotten a sale for that effort. It's easy to conclude it's not worth the bother.

Finally, handcuffs can not be exported to anywhere but Canada without an export license. That takes a fair amount of paperwork and something like 90 days to approve. Few buyers are willing to put up with that.

I sell many of my goods internationally. I don't sell handcuffs. Don't ask me to violate my country's laws, right or wrong, to sell you a pair of Peerless 300s.

Come to my house, sleep on my house, and drink up my beer. That's different.

Here's the deal...

US Law states that cuffs need a 'permit' to ship internationally. There is one exception... Canada.

This is non negotiable. A business that sells hundreds, or thousands, of units can soak up the cost of this export "permit."

If you are looking to buy and sell single units, Canada is your middle man. Canada has no import/export restrictions to anywhere in the world with regards to cuffs.

Find some long lost relative that lives in Canada, and hopefully you can buy and sell what you want freely with minimal added expense.
