Tower's Double Lock Leg Irons

I have a set of Tower's double lock leg irons with a key. They were found in the basement of an old RCMP Detachment. They work perfectly and only have a little surface rust?

Can anybody tell me the approximate value of them?

I have been told that the last time these type of leg irons were issued to RCMP Detachments would have been approximately 1949. The RCMP has been destroying them as they have no known keys left to open them again (except, odviously, for this one).

Also, pleas ignore the key fob. That was on there when they were found. I suspect, from the fob at least, that these leg irons were likely still in use at that particular Detachment until the 1970s or 1980s.

Years ago when I was performing in a small town in Manitoba, RCMP officers showed up with a set of Tower leg irons as a challenge.

Upon closer inspection I saw they were Tower copies made by Hiatt.

Up until 5 years ago when I moved from Manitoba, the RCMP was still using Tower leg irons if they had a key.

I find it suprising that RCMP members continue to use Tower's leg irons in Manitoba. I am a member of the RCMP and, while we do use somethings well past their shelf life, for the most part our equipment is at least semi-current.

I got these ones in Alberta and there at least they haven't been in use for the past 50 some years.

I presently work in Newfoundland and never seen anoter pair, nor have I come across any other members who have seen a pair like them.

I take it to mean then that these leg irons would have very little value.
