I had a GREAT day!

I was invited to go up to Hollywood and be a guest on the new Living Live show with Florence Henderson (Mrs Carol Brady of the Brady Bunch TV show)and Mesach Taylor (Designing Women).
The show is about retired people (and I am far from it!) and their goals, accomplishments, and a special segment about hobbies and collectibles. They contacted Joe L. after seeing his web-site and they preinterviewed me about my collection. They apparently were interested in what I was able to offer and I was invited for this taping. It was a lot of fun and I had to get done up with the make-up girls and got to hang out with Rip Taylor (older stand-up comedian and game show guest)in the green room.
Today was the 2nd taping of the show which started yesterday and I got to explain the McKenzie Mitts, Oregon Boot, some of my Houdini owned cuffs, the Mini-cuffs, and a cuff that I named "The San Diegan".


The show is on some stations along the east coast and is on satelite DirecTV channel 364. It will air next Tuesday. Should be at 9am.

I will be getting a copy of the show and hope to show more pics soon.

Hi Mark - well done, it's always good to see our hobby getting more publicity. Unfortunately, those of us living here in the UK are unlikely to be able to see the screening of the show, so more pics in due course would be very much appeciated, please.
I'll be over in Georgia next month, so might be I can see the show over there if it has re-runs?
BTW, have I missed something - what is "The San Diegan"?

The San Diegan is a very old cuff that was excavated from the Mission at San Diego in the 1970,s. It was traded along and ended up with Stave Santini. I acquired this from him several years ago and it back home to San Diego. Steve believes that this cuff might be the oldest known USED cuff in North America and might be dated to the late 1700's.
It has some characteristics of the Spanish execution manacle except it requires a rivet or external padlock.

Looked like you had fun.

What I want to know is how different Florence Henderson must be from Carol Brady. I remember seeing her do a commercial on an outtake show, and she blew one of her lines and used profanity about it. She then sang to the kid next to her...

"Mrs. Brady Swears" which I found very funny.

Poor Florence is as human as any of us, and yet she probably still lives in a shadow cast more than 30 years ago by that horribly idealistic show.

Yes, this was a very wonderful day and I did have a fun time. One of my favorite days, actually.

That is funny Cliff,
I like the scene of all the child stars singing a song as the credits are rolling at the end of the monie, Dicky Roberts and pretty pristine Marsha (Maureen McCormick) sang out "and if someone calls me Marsha one more time, I'll punch them in the #}+%ing nose!"

I will ask the Cannons if we can show this segment during the next Convention. Maybe we can view it just before one of the lectures.
