I also have the Polizei Padlock Handcuffs featured on 5/1/06. These cuffs have the tightest barrel key locks I’ve ever seen. Even without the padlocks I have never even tried to pick them. A version featuring nickel-plated bows exists, with the blackened bows being the most common.

Jason, yeah, the Polizei are great cuffs and thank you for posting the link to Cuffsland....I have done business with them in the past and have had great service from them!

Greetings!

Just stopped by the blog and took a look at the S.A. leg irons. I don’t own a set, but seem to recall that they were plated with tin rather than nickel. They remind me of the Chinese rivet leg irons. I’ve seen the reproduction padlocks on e-bay, with a few sellers even trying to pass them off as antiques.

Your reference to “Cool Hand Luke” brought back some memories. I will have to rent that on DVD. Another great film in a prison setting is “Papillion” with Dustin Hoffman and Steve McQueen. It is set on Devil’s Island, French Guiana, though I believe they actually filmed in Jamaica.

Jason, I am glad you like my S.A. leg irons. I bought this pair off of Steve Santini last winter and they are without a doubt, the heaviest leg irons in my collection. If you (or anyone here) is interested in a pair, talk to Steve, he had a few pairs of them laying around and might be willing to sell one or two of them.

Steve, these are really cool leg irons and I want to thank you for hooking me up with them!

To the rest of the handcuff collecting community, I also wanted to say that I have bought and or traded DOZENS of cuffs, locks, books, and keys with Steve Santini and I have never had one single problem. He is a great guy to do business with dispite some bad PR he has had with a select few.
