More about The Mirror Cuffs

I am still researching Houdini's Mirror Cuffs Challenge, and I came across this bit of information, which I need help with;

MAGICANA...New Zealand's excellent conjuring magazine displays, as I write, in it's June/July 1998 issue, a photograph of Swedish collector of restrants,Johan Ahlberg, holding "Houdini's Daily Mirror Handcuffs" in Ystad,Sweden. Mr Radner dismissed that, saying the cuffs were a poor copy and "wrong at that" Only the casings are copies, the "inside works" are not there.

Here's my question....Has anyone seen this photograph, and were they the original cuffs or a copy? I am not sure when they ended up in David Copperfiel's collection, so could Johan have got a "hands on?" Or was Sid Radner correct in saying they were copies?

I might be able to get the picture and information of the cuff he is holdning since I know Johan Ahlberg and correspond with him frequently.

Thanks Lars.....I have managed to locate Johan's email adrress and have sent him a message, which he has already replied to. This could lead to another reserach trail!

One more thing, has anyone reading this got a good quality picture of the Houdini Seance cuff, particularly a close up of the keyway and key? I just want to be convinced that a genuine Bramah lock was fitted.

I have handled these cuffs at the London Seance in 1999, but wasn't as "into" it as I am now, so I didn't take too much notice. Shame!!!

Hi Mick, Johan has one of my cuffs. I like the idea that Radner has xray vision.
