Who is this dishonest buyer? That a good question. It is amazing when rare french handcuffs are for sale it is always the same problem. It is impossible to bid. I have got this very nice model in my collection but a friend of mine was interested. I wanted to bid for him. I am very disappointed and my friend too.

The multiple position, adjustable Hiatt darby handcuffs, 300110418066, are anti-magnetic, i.e., Hiatt's non-ferrous alloy. I asked the seller about the two pairs of Hiatt handcuffs near the beginning of the auction. I also told him the relevance of the information, because he asked me. The single position,non-adjustable Hiatt darby handcuffs are magnetic. So, the seller knew how late the adjustable cuffs were made but elected not to adjust his item description accordingly. I thought you might want to know. As I don't have your e-mail address, and as I saw your message this morning, I could not think of another way to tell you.

Hi,
No, I did not have a chance to write as I did not see it.
I am still away from home and do not have a nice computer to work with. My rather lengthy message is stored in my computer at home anyway.
I would have liked that cuff too. The seller is a fool for letting it go so early.
I bet my bid and some of the other serious collectors would have given the guy twice as much as what he just settled for.
If anyone has a brass La Policiere they want to get rid of, please let me know or put it on ebay. I think you will get top dollar for it right now.

It is really annoying when this happens but seems we can not do anything about it or can we? I have sent the seller an email in my best French letting him know how rare these are and hope that he got AT LEAST 2000 euros for them (okay that is over the top but at least it should make him feel really annoyed!).
Think when I am in our house in France next month I will look at setting up an email address over there - some very good offers at the moment, then sell a few bits on ebay with another name and after getting some +ve feedback advertise a nice set of Lyon Presto or Policiere Brass cuffs (do not have the Brass Policiere cuffs in my collection but am sure I can get a photo of one). Then wait and see who contacts me with an early offer. What do you think??

Yes I had writen the seller for an offer like a lot of foreign collectors on eBay.It is impossible to buy rare handcuffs if you wait the end of the auctions. I do respect the eBay rule and I had requested him to add a ”buy it now’’to his advert. This part of my mail is a proof “Je souhaite vous en proposer un prix honnête en achat immédiat” you can also read in an other part of my mail“Je tiens à être honnête. Il y a une enchère en ce moment et cela me gène maintenant pour cet acheteur. Je suis sérieux (évaluation) Seule une enchère avec achat immédiat sera possible par modification de l'annonce ‘’ In english now‘I want to be honest. There is a bid at present .....I respect the bidder.... I am serious ( have a look after my feedback) I agree but only for a buy it now. If you change your advert....” The seller was not agree to change the advert but was agree to sell out of eBay. It was not my request but his will. He told me that I had received offers so I had no choice.

It seems to me that the greedy sellers are also at fault by agreeing to sell off ebay. I've sold on ebay for many years and have never pulled an auction due to an offer to buy off ebay.
