Have you been to Stan's Web site lately? His Guinness world record collection stands at 981 cuffs.

#1000 can not be very far away!

What cuff should Stan get for #1000?

A nice Guiteau.

Maybe a Kimball.

Perhaps a nice set of those Indian Darbies they used to use at Alcatraz.

Anyone have any suggestions for Stan?

Stan: Get a LOREY (combination) handcuff! (...and then bring it to the Lock Shows--that's about the only way I'll ever see-hold one!)

Thanks for thinking of me. I will be happy to accept any of the mentioned cuffs (maybe not the Indian darby). Better Hurry and find me something. The count is now 984, and will be 990 when the stuff I'm waiting for gets here. I have a feeling that 991 to 1000 will take some time to find.

Looking at you superb CD I do notice that you do not have any of the Fluffy /Furry handcuffs. What colour would you like?

Actually I do have several of the furry ones. That is what friends give me when they think they are being funny. I didn't think they were appropriate on the CD.

You must have the same "humerous" friends I do. I've been given 3 plastic fuzzy and 4 metal fuzzy handcuffs over the years.

I just added a few really hard to find cuffs to the collection, so I had to decide which one to make # 1000. I decided on a THOMPSON Plug cuff (not plug 8). I also added 6 differnt Bagno cuffs, and a French "Chain" Berliner style handcuff, which is # 1001. I added pics of the Bagnos and the Thompson and the Chain cuff to the home page at my web site http://www.handcuffsandbadges.com
I am now listed on the Guinness web site for the record, so I suspect i will be in the new Guinness World Records Book due out August 23.
There are some unusual cuffs for sale on the "antiques" page, and I am planning on putting some of them on ebay soon. If there is something you like, but don't like the price, make me an offer.
I appreciate all the help I've received from other collectors along the way to # 1000.

Well done Stan, we all knew that you would break the 1000 record. I will look forward to getting a copy of The Guinness Book of Records at the end of the month and seeing your name in it. Next question is will you beat my record of being in there for 4 years??? I think you will (you deserved to be in there before me - your collection has always been superior to mine - although perhaps when we both started our collections in 1968 we may have been equal!). Very well done and congratulations.

Hi Chris:
I never set out to have a record. Some friends encouraged me to go for it last year. I'm just trying to add cuffs that I don't have. That's the part I like. I will probobally re-apply to Guinness to change the number to 1000.

Stan, congratulations on reaching an unprecedented achievement in the cuff collecting world. It is truly a major feat to be able to find so many variations of old and modern restraints from all over the world. I would like to know what cuffs you are in need of. Do you have a 10 most wanted list? While I have about half as many cuffs as you have, I want you to keep one thing about your collection in mind......It's not the size that counts! m

You are correct about size. That's what men think. Ask a woman. If you look at my CD, you will see that there are a few nice pieces in the collection. I have to revise my want list, since it gets smaller every year. I could use a nice Berliner or 2, and a Muhlenfeld, and a Kimball, and a Giteau.
