I have decided that im going to photograph my entire collection of 172 cuffs and list them on my site.

So would be very gratefull if someone could identify these cuffs and if theres any history about the manafacture please let me know so i can add as much detail as poss

The first cuffs are not leg irons. They look like cobb cuffs on a long chain. I've never seen this as a factory made variation.

Thanks for pointing this out, Stan.

Ive seen factory made H&R Bean Cobb handcuffs attached by a whopping 6 chain with an O-ring at their midpoint. My guess is that when H&R took over production, they offered several chain options as a selling point.

My Bean-Cobb has two larger oval links at each clevis with a 14 inch smaller oval link chain.
I believe it all to be factory original.

Hi,

a bit more information about your 2 german cuffs:

Cuff 2 was used by the german police ("Polizei") in southwestern areas after WWII, even though the design looks very much like french cuffs. It's often also called "Polizei BaWue" referring to Baden-Wuerttemberg (a district of germany). The hole is intended for extra locking using a padlock.

Cuff 3 is the "3rd model" of the east german (GDR) police handcuffs, it's the most common one and still (or better, now) relatively easily available in Germany. I would say it's the least expensive of your shown objects, nevertheless a very nice and special cuff with an interesting and relatively complex locking mechanism, including an extra ratchet for the double lock.

Matthew, pic #1 is a modified Bean Cobb. It was made from two different regular Bean Cobb handcuffs (each with the single long chain link) and an added length of twist chain. It is a nice piece for wrapping around a ceiling beam or anything stationary......from your website, I see you have put it to good use. =P

I think you're right, Michael. I was thinking something similar.

It's hard to tell from that photo, but look at the large link on the leftmost cuff. Is there a pronounced rust spot at the top of the large link? That, to me, could indicate that it was cut and electrically welded.

If you guys really want free membership you should be withoulding your info ... sell it to him for credits towards the membership? Just a thought! Im sure he will go for that .... time to hit the books and start learning my handcuffs.
