The Missing Link

I am sure many collectors have plug type single legirons (see page 26 of Joe's book on British Handcuffs). I have had for many years 2 sets connected by old looking chain. However, I recently got a pair connected by a very nice specially designed forged chain which has an elongated link on each end that seems to be specifically made to connect the single legirons. Unfortunately there is no makrs name on either the chain or legirons. Furthermore probably due to age one of the links has broken and someone has simply added a brass ring to keep them intact. Does anyone else have any sets with similar chain with a makers name?

I also have a set which sounds like these. On mine, the leg anklets are detatchable from the chain.

The chain consists of the following:

- On each extreme end there are oval links just wide enough for the leg irons

- Linked to each of these are 2 long heavy links

- Joining these long links in the middle of the chain is a large round ring.

These are all hand forged and the plug anklets are rather heavy, small ankle size, and have a spike ward in the lock like the Boer War 8's.

There are no markings on my set except for punch marks which for numbering dots in each anklet.
