The convention is this weekend outside LA. Anyone who is in the area should definitely plan to come. It will be well worth your time.

If you are coming and have an interesting handcuff or other item that you think would be of interest then bring it along. I will photograph it for you and we can put it into the book. All I would need from you would be a short write up for the figure caption.

I just wish I could be with you guys at the weekend, but right now I'm around 7,000 miles from LA and it just isn't practicable for me to attend this year. But Joe, your message has served a very useful purpose as far as I'm concerned - it's reminded me that I've promised you an article for the 2008 Annual. No of course I hadn't forgotten! Will see what I can do.
Enjoy the weekend, we'll be thinking about you -I'll be allowing for the 8 hour time difference.

I will most definitely be there! My flight leaves Thursday morning. I will once again be bringing an assortment of treats of the cookie variety. If anyone is flying into L.A.X. Friday afternoon do let me know. I can offer a ride to the convention. (I think I am picking up Andrew in Beverly Hills.) Anyone wanting to leave for LAX Sunday can get a ride back as well... provided we leave just after the convention is over.

Hi,

I'm just in this moment boarding my plane in Munich, so I hope I will be there this afternoon - Lars hopes so too As long as my handcuff luggage doesn't stop me in Minneapolis customs for too long it should work out...

I'm bringing at least two interesting items I think, both of them for sure never have been seen (in real) in the US. (SPOILER... One is a darby-style cuff using an state-of-the art ABLOY lock, and one the known pakistani VW replication of the famous bavarian Leg irons, but using the same ABUS cylinder as the very rare original - MUCH more secure than what VW has in it).

BTW: if someone is deciding spontaniously - I could offer a room sharing in the Hotel. Send me an email with a subject containing "Convention" in case you're interested... I won't be able to react to it before about 1700 though.
